Talents Cultivation



SOG has a post-doctoral research station of Geography, five Doctoral Programs in Physical Geography, Human Geography, Cartography & Geographic Information System, Global Environmental Changes and Geography Curriculum & Instruction Theory; nine Master Programs in Physical Geography, Human Geography, Cartography & Geographic Information System, Photogrammetry & Remote Sensing, Regional Economy, Land Resource Management, Water and Soil Conservation & Desertification Prevention, and Geography Curriculum & Instruction Theory and three Bachelor programs in Geography Science, Resource Environment & Town and Country Planning. SOG is one of seven National Talents-Cultivation Bases for Geography in China, and awarded the Outstanding Base. In recent years, SOG has enrolled over 100 under-graduates, 80 graduates and 30 doctors each year. It also has hosted and taken part in ten projects on educational reform supported by Ministry of Education and provinces, obtained fourteen awards on both state-level and ministry-level for remarkable teaching achievements and published over ten textbooks (Textbook series for 21st Century). Prof. Jing'ai WANG was awarded National Famous Teaching Master Award.
